Really, museums are quite distinct from theme parks. For one
thing theme parks tell sanitized lies. Museums may
not tell "the truth" because there may be no single object by
that name, but I really can't imagine a "Main Street USA" or a
"Pocahontas" coming out of a museum (though Colonial Williamsburg
in a different era was treading that line.)

I don't think that this is as much of an issue as people have
been making it out to be, at least not in this particular era of
museums. I mean, look at what Colonial Williamsburg has been
doing over the past decade or so...can we imagine Disney (who
create the most museum-y, densely-textured immersive theme parks)
staging a recreation of a slave auction?

What museum exhibitions are there out there that people here can
name which blur the distinction between museum and theme park?

I can think of a couple of blurry lines between Science
Technology centers and, for example, SONY's new-ish exhibit
space. Frankly, I think there that SONY has come closer to the
museum world than vice-versa. And then there are those dinosaur
     automata,,,
