I would suggest you contact Irene Lee Epstein, President of the Friends of
Lyndhurst. They just began a "state of the art" audio progam. The
Lyndhurst tel. # is (914) 631-4481.

Subject: Audio Tours

I am writing to the list on behalf of the Crocker Art Museum. I am
a volunteer assisting in the implementation of an audio tour of the
museum's permanent collection and possibly touring exhibitions as well.
We are interested in hearing from experienced, professional museum
staff who have started similiar programs at their respective museums.
We would like to know how the addition of an audio tour has impacted
your museum. Success stories are welcome and we would appreciate any
advice/commentary/references/referrals about the process of beginning
such a program.
Some of our concerns include: budgetary constraints, choosing the
medium (cd, cassette tape), other technial concerns (radio interference
w/security systems), organizational issues such as who writes the tour
and who manages it, audience concerns (what age is it geared toward) and
any other issues we might encounter.

Thanks in advance,
Alicia Griffin
