Given Roger's comments to Anne encouraging her not to
give up and that, if he could, he would hire her, this
question goes to our other than US members:

Are there jobs available in your countries, and what
could qualified Americans do to secure them? Will
your country provide visas to outsiders to work, and
would it be to their advantage to consider
opportunities in your country.

Today, our job market is not good. Would their be any
chances for these folks to be placed in your country?
I know Star is working in Italy, and she's from the
US. Do we have others who can offer advice?
