Dear Colleagues,

The New Orleans Museum of Art is exploring ways to expand our existing library
into a larger, more accessible "Reference Center." We would like to become a
better resource for the community, with an area for teachers, etc. I am
interested in finding out any information possible from museums currently
operating such a center.

Some of my questions include: Are visitors using the facility? For what
purposes? What hours is the center open and why? Are the center's hours
different from the regular museum hours (to accommodate students, for example)?
What types of technical equipment does the center use - computers, video
cameras, scanners, etc? Does the center provide internet access or access to
images of the collection? Can people check out materials or do they use them
inside the facility only? Is the center housed in the gallery areas or is it
located in a restricted access area of the museum (by appointment only)?

Thanks for your responses! Please reply on- or off-list to:
