I spent my college years in Ann Arbor, MI, and I have to say I totally
agree. As an art history major, I had considerably more experience with the
local museums than most other students did; the bottom line is that they're
burned out by the end of the day, and don't want to be forced into thought
even if it is in their best interest down the road! The museum that got the
most traffic was the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum -- precisely because it was
fun.

Actually, I think you are right! Whenever we had a gallery opening with
free food, the business school kids walked over. Another big draw was to
have a music major play and that brought all the musicians over. Never did
get the education majors over....have no idea what motivates those. (Maybe
screaming kids in the foyer?) Mostly nobody has time and when they do,
they want something COMPLETELY recreational which means off campus, booz
and no thinking involved.
