Diane;

The best one I have seen in that type of setting is the visitor centre at
Algonquin Provincial Park in eastern Ontario (the province's largest park).
The visitor centre combines displays on the flora and fauna of the park with
those on history and has an excellent gift shop and book store (run, I think
by their Friends organization), as well as a coffee shop).
