This is not a "fez", Sir, with all due respect, but a fur-hat, called
"shubara". Nothing to do with fez, which does not bring pleasant memories
of Turkish rule, although someone has tried, at this list, a few hours ago,
to picture it as an idyllic and romantic page in the history of the
Orthodox peoples. Of course, one cannot say that it was "barbaric", that
would be too much, but it was severe and one cannot speak of "flourishing"
Orthodox church, although it had its good moments in these hard times,
mostly thanking to the wise policy of the local politicians....
