Program Assistant for Marketing and Membership

Heritage Preservation is a national non-profit, located in Washington, DC,
that works to promote appropriate care of collections and other aspects of
our heritage. Its activities include Save Outdoor Sculpture!, the
Conservation Assessment Program, the Heritage Emergency National Task Force,
and the Heritage Health Index.

The Program Assistant for Marketing and Membership is involved with a wide
range of activities affecting every part of Heritage Preservation. These
include management of the membership program, development and maintenance of
databases for marketing, membership, and public relations, development and
implementation of marketing and publicity plans, and making arrangements for
meetings and special events. In addition to supporting the general
marketing and membership activities of Heritage Preservation, this position
has special responsibilities regarding database management, marketing, and
research for the Heritage Health Index, a periodic national survey of the
condition of the nation’s collections. This position reports to the Vice
President for External Relations and the Director of the Heritage Health
Index.

We encourage candidates who have:
· Excellent computer skills
· Experience with database management (we use FileMaker)
· Strong writing ability
· An aptitude for marketing
· An interest in museums and conservation
· A flexible attitude and a willingness to pitch in with general office
work.

A BA in the arts and humanities is the ideal educational background. This
is a great entry-level position for a recent college graduate with an
interest in both cultural and public affairs.

Please note that Heritage Preservation is unable to support travel and
relocation expenses, therefore, applicants only from the Metro Washington DC
area are encouraged to apply.
