The Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center is offering its popular one-day
training, "Creating Collections with Young Children" on
May 2, 2005.

Through hands-on experiences and museum visits, this seminar will show
educators how to use collections to help develop sorting, classification,
observation and analytical skills. Educators will consider how different
exhibits are organized, and how students can learn to develop exhibitions
and collections in the classroom that incorporate math, science, history,
and language arts.

The cost of the seminar is $150.00 for early registration (before April 1)
and $175.00 after April 1. Cost includes a lunch. The seminar is held at the
National Museum of Natural History with visits to the Smithsonian's National
Museum of American History.

Stay an extra day in Washington and attend our evening seminar on May 3,
2005. "Teaching History to Young Children" is part of a new seminar series
on using museums to teach math, literacy and history to children under eight
years old. In the seminar we will discuss developmentally appropriate ways
to introduce a concept of history to young children. History becomes
meaningful to young children through object exploration, narrative, songs
and games.

The cost of the evening seminar is $60.00. If you sign up for both
seminars, we are offering a discount of $25.00.
