Dear Museum-L'ers,

Don't you think Russia needs some talented professional curators?
I do. In fact, I know it needs them more than it does another IMF loan to
become a truly democratic country and leave its Communist past behind once
and for good. Who would argue with the following statement: free exchange
of ideas (and their ARTISTIC incarnations) is one of the most important
features of a democratic society (which we all want Russia to become)? To
be more specific, such an exchange guarantees that a society will not slide
into the stinking pit of authoritarianism (far-reaching implications of
which we now see on the examples of Chechnya, arrest of Andrey Babitsky,
etc.) A handfull of curators helping artists to exhibit and market their
works can actually do more for sustaining democracy than a whole party of
politicians who are struggling (if even) against the state system which
never really died but rather "played dead" since 1991 or so...

All this pathos is to say that I personally want to become a professional
curator. Needless to say, one has to get as much international experience
as possible to become one in today's globalized world. (Besides there is no
school in Russia that can provide adequate training in arts
administration). I do have some Art History and Cultural Diplomacy
background. I am thinking of internship in the US. Any ideas/
possibilities?? I would be happy to provide additional information about
my academic background and recommendations upon request. Please, contact me

Respectfully Yours,
Anastasia Boudanoque.
