Lubbock Lake Landmark
Museum of Texas Tech University


Lubbock Lake Landmark, an archaeological and natural history preserve, is
offering a nine-month paid internship in Museum Public Relations and
Marketing beginning immediately. The student intern will work in a
team-based collaborative environment, reporting to the Landmark's Museum
Educator with oversight by the Director of Lubbock Lake Landmark.

The intern will concentrate on creating a comprehensive, coordinated public
awareness campaign that complements and enhances public programming and
research activities at the Landmark. Duties are project-oriented and may
include:

*       researching and compiling visitor demographics
*       writing press releases, newsletters, print advertising
*       developing brochures and school program publications
*       maintaining the Landmark's internet web site
*       researching potential community partnerships
*       researching and preparing funding applications
*       developing methods to evaluate training and public programming
initiatives

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of museum theory and
practice, public relations and marketing techniques, graphic design, and
evaluation methods. The candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills,
including the ability to deal effectively with people of varying experience
and expertise. Excellent organizational skills, written and oral
communication skills are required, as is a proficiency with computers and
word processing. S/he must be able to work simultaneously on multiple, and
diverse tasks. Current enrollment in a graduate museum science or mass
communications program or recent graduate is preferred.
