Senior Evaluator/Researcher--Two Year Contract
St. Louis Science Ceneter, Research and Evaluation
General Description: This position will oversee the evaluation efforts related
to two externally funded informal science learning projects involving schools,
and the development of a systematic evaluation support for St. Louis Science
Center school programs. As part of three development teams for "The Partnership
for Linking Formal and Informal Education" the evaluator will conduct formative
evaluation of program components during the first two years of the life sciences
project.  Program elements including teacher workshops, print materials,
classroom activities, and group visits to a zoo, science center, and botanical
garden.  In addition, the evaluator will assist teams in development
performance-based assessment techniques that will also be used in assessing
program impact for this project.  The position will also provide evaluation
support for the Science Center's development of a formalized approach to educate
the public on plant science and biotechnology.  This prototype program will
provide the basis for seeking additional funding for an informal science
consortium on biotechnology.  The position will also assist the Director of
Research and Evaluation in developing on-going evaluation systems for the school
and public programs and contracts.  This is a two-year contract with a
possibility of renewal for a third and additional years.   Qualifications:
Master's degree in education or related field required.  A minimum of two-years
experience in conducting program evaluation is required.  Applicants must have
experience working with school staff and be familiar with informal learning
environment.  Working knowledge of a variety of program evaluation models and
techniques required, including qualitative and quantitative methods.
Intermediate knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics is needed,
along with the background to interpret standardized tests and testing issues to
school personnel.   Prior project management and development team experience is
