Following Lois Brynes note I was forced to overcome my natural British
 reticenceto mention that I have recently published an article on the
 iconography of
museums: `The Museum, Meaning and History: The Case of chemistry' in Seymour
Mauskopf ed,
Chemical Sciences in the Modern World (Philadelphia;
University of Pennsylvania Press, 1993) pp 277-94.

It suggests that Museums are interesting mystical places in which myth
can be created and communicated with the best of effects.
