Amy, you certainly were not complaining! In fact, it was those who seem so
stridently unhappy with their wages who were complaining, and your comments,
and, I hope, mine, were right on target. I really hate to see our
profession infiltrated my the "You owe me whatever I want in a job, a
salarly, a career, a life" types. Work for better wages, I fully support
that. But you took the job, and you knew the salary. How, all of a sudden,
is it intolerable? There seems to be a reluctance these days to lower one's
standard of living to fit one's salary. We seem to want to pick a certain
standard of living, then demand that our employer match our expectations,
after the fact!

And I think you make another cogent point. I, for one, do not look forward
to our profession becoming merely a career. It has been, at its finest, a
passion. It certainly would be nice to have my passion be my career as
well, but if I have to choose, I pick passion over career.

Rich
