The Old Capitol Museum is a National Historic Landmark and a Smithsonian
affiliate; it is also accredited by the American Association of Museums.
The Old Capitol houses the State Historical Museum, offering exhibits on
Mississippi from prehistory through the Civil War, Reconstruction, the
cotton culture, and the civil rights movement.

This position involves work that is highly professional in nature. It
involves working with teachers and school groups, developing educational
materials, conducting historic tours, and other duties regarding
interpreting the history of Mississippi. Incumbents work under the
general supervision of a director; however, incumbent may have
supervisory responsibilities in their section.

Education and experience must meet one of the following criteria:

ˇ Master s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
ˇ Bachelor s degree from an accredited four-year college or university,
and one (1) year of related experience

Substitution Statement:
Experience in a field acceptable to the employing authority and
education acceptable to the employing authority may be substituted on an
equal basis.
