VACANCY

Museum Executive Director

Having just moved into a newly renovated 20,000 square foot facility
adjacent to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus in Troy, NY, the new
Junior Museum, an emerging crown jewel of the New York Capital Region, is
seeking an Executive Director with vision, leadership, experience and
exemplary management skills. This 46-year-old children's museum, with an
annual visitation of 100,000, has a current operating budget of $500,000
with a near-term goal of $1 million, a staff of 7 full-time, 17 part-time
employees, and is led by a 15-member Board of Trustees. We seek a dynamic
individual with the ability to manage growth, with demonstrated success in
long-range strategic planning, institutional advancement, and a working
knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management.

The Director must be passionately committed to children and youth education
and have experience in supervision of programming administration,
fundraising, marketing, public relations and capital campaigns. The
candidate must work well with the Board of Trustees and have excellent
written and presentation skills. Desired qualifications include B.A./B.S.,
with advanced training preferred and a proven record of increasingly
responsible experience at the management level, including at least three
years of demonstrated fundraising experience. Appropriate disciplines might
include art, history, science, management, museum studies, and education.
Salary: commensurate with experience. EOE.

Applications will be accepted immediately and until position is filled.
