Deborah,

I'm not sure if public speaking specialists will consider a "museum" audience much different than any other in regards to holding attention, presentation styles etc. After all, a vast majority of visitors are just normal Joe and Joan Citizen... the very same who may also go to DisneyLand, watch Survivor or NFL football on Sundays.

I can't tell you of any museum specialists in the area, but there are a few places you can check for general public speaking tips. If they know these, plus the material in the slide presentation, I can't image your "boredom" rate would be high.

There is the LandsEnd Toastmasters Club. Sponsored by the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Richmond district of the city, it's sole purpose is to teach speaking in front of others. You can just drop by and observe, or join the fray regularly for $3.00 a month. Easy on the budget. Check out their information at
http://landsend.freeservers.com/index.html

or the San Jose State U offers courses on public speaking, if someone wants to make a longer term committment to the process.
