Nancy--try this:

E.G. Archer & Son Surgical Instrument Co.
c/o Bohemian Brigade Bookshop and Publishers
7347 Middlebrook Pike
Knoxville, TN 37909
ph. 423-694-8227
fax 423-531-1846

Edgar Archer makes fine reproduction medical equipment and the bookshop
sells lots of modern and repro medical texts. Be advised that this stuff
is very expensive! Expect $700-900 for something like a trephining set.
Also, the stuff is in short supply--there are few makers aside from
Archer.

For pre-civil war items, try:

G. Gedney Godwin, Inc. Antique Medical Instruments
PO Box 100
Valley Forge PA 19841
phone 610-783-0670
fax 610-783-6083

I hope this gives you suitable starting points.

Regards,
Doug

PS-for more info than you'll even dream possible, contact the Society of
