Dear All

I have been receiving great advice on this network and hope to get some
help for this one...

We are in the midst of doing up an Emergency Plan for our storage cum
conservation facility. Thus far things in discussions and papers put up
were adapted from books, references and resouces from the internet to suit
our needs. We are aware that there are many resources available on this
subject.

After discussion with our senior conservation staff, we reckoned that the
part on salvage procedures is an art in itself and would require some
specialised knowledge. Conservation-train staff might not necessarily be
able to do this part well even though their knowledge in materials
behaviour would be useful.

I am thus exploring to hire a consultant or trainer in this field (Disaster
salvage - specifically on heritge materials) to guide us through this
process. Looking at our collection, advising on what are the different
approaches to design salvage procedures, handling and methods in salvaging
heritage materials in trouble.

Frankly I haven't got approval for this. Am at the exploratory stage and
hope to put up a proposal if budget permits.

Is there anyone out there who is an expert in this field or could introduce
us to someone you know is good?

Regards,
Low Jyue Tyan (Ms)
