Executive Business Director and Executive Gallery Director - New York City

For a new gallery enterprise, opening in NYC in 2008, we are seeking two
top-level professionals with extensive gallery and arts and business
experience.  Located in a prestigious mid-town building, this 14,000 sq.ft.
space will feature the work of a single living artist with programming that
will include events, lectures and performances.  

The Business Director will be responsible for all business, financial, and
human resources functions; forecasting and developing revenue streams; and
marketing and branding oversight.  The ideal candidate will be
entrepreneurial in approach, with at least six years experience in a major
art gallery, auction house, or arts-related business.  Excellent financial,
managerial and interpersonal skills essential.  Past experience in strategy
consulting and international luxury brands a plus. M.A. or MBA preferred.   

The Gallery Director will be responsible for all exhibitions
and programs; developing an international client base and long-term
relationships with private collectors, museums and art advisors; managing
all sales initiatives and growth; and serving as the primary contact for all
clients, visitors, and the media. Working with the Business Director, the
Gallery Director will set price points and oversee promotion, marketing and
other business initiatives.  The Gallery Director will be responsible for
hiring additional sales staff, a registrar, and administrative staff. The
ideal candidate will have at least eight years substantial experience in
gallery or auction house sales; experience with art fairs and other
commercial activities; sensitivity and knowledge of collections care and
display; knowledge of the New York arts environment, and high visibility
within the international arts community.  M.A. in art history or similar
discipline preferred.  Languages a plus.
