Legal Assistant

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Legal Assistant to report to the department of the Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel.   The Legal Assistant will support two Assistant Counsels in all legal and administrative functions.  Areas of responsibilities include: state registrations, estate work, filing of construction contracts and other contracts as required.  Other responsibilities include: drafting correspondence, managing two calendars, scheduling appointments, managing and updating different lists, answering phones,  word-processing, and other related duties.

Successful candidates will have previous administrative experience, preferably in a legal or non-profit environment.  Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.  Must be able to successfully manage multiple priorities and possess tact and good judgment in confidential situations.  Must possess a strong attention to detail.  BA degree in a related field required and a background in Art History preferred.  Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
