I'm chiming in another vote for JHU!  This is my second semester in the program and I have found the variety of courses and quality of professors outstanding.  I was apprehensive of doing a MA program online but this program has proven to be challenging and progressive.  I also work full time, as many in the program do.

The JHU program also requires a 2-week on-site seminar course offered in various locations during the summer and intercession breaks.  I just recently completed mine in London (with Noel).  Having the opportunity to be in class and meet other students in the program defintely makes the JHU program stand out.  

If I were in your shoes I would lean more toward doing a full MA program rather than a certificate.

JHU Museum Studies Masters is amazing!  It is incredibly rigorous but the amount and range of learning is unparalleled, in my opinion.  It is a bit costly but infinitely worth it.

I was enrolled previously in an on-line masters at a university in the UK and withdrew after 6 weeks because there was no rigor whatsoever.  It was less than US high school level.

So...go JHU!

I am currently enrolled in George Washington University's Distance Education Graduate Certificate in Museum Collections Management and Care.  This has been a good experience for me, as it is a flexible program allowing me to still work full time.  I have found it to be relatively affordable for graduate classes.  For additional information on the program and specific classes offered check out this link:
