National Task Force on Emergency Response
Program Assistant, 20 hours/week
Position available July 23, 2001

The National Task Force on Emergency Response is a partnership of 30
government agencies and national associations. It provides information and
assistance to cultural institutions and the public in times of disaster. The
Task Force is headquartered at Heritage Preservation, a national nonprofit
organization advocating the proper care of our cultural heritage. The staff
is bright and congenial, and the office is in a convenient downtown
location. The hours for the job will be regular, but flexible. More

Primary Responsibilities:

· Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel: Managing the database,
processing orders and payments, and marketing this highly successful
information tool.
· Spanish-Language Wheel Project. Helping to implement the final
phases of this new project, including production assistance, distribution,
and nationwide publicity.
· Flood/Hurricane Information Packets. Maintaining and mailing
response & recovery materials to archives, libraries, museums and historic
sites in areas affected by major disasters.
· Grant-writing. Assisting the Task Force director in the development
of funding proposals and grant reports.
· Public relations. Responding to general information requests and
preparing news briefs for Task Force members.
· Administration. Maintaining resource materials and project files.
Providing scheduling and logistical support for occasional task force
meetings.

Qualifications: A relevant B.A. degree and some office experience are
required. The Program Assistant should be well organized and able to work
independently. Strong interpersonal and communications skills are a must.
Knowledge of Filemaker Pro is a plus.
