CALL FOR CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS:
VISITOR STUDIES CONFERENCE 2000

The Visitor Studies Conference 2000 invites proposals for presentation at
their annual conference, which will be held in Boston, MA August 5-9. The
presentations can include papers, panels, roundtables, and posters. The
topics can include all aspects of methods and results of visitor studies,
including audience surveys; front-end studies; formative, summarive, and
remedial evaluations of exhibits and education programs.

Studies from related fields, such as leisure studies, interpretation,
psychology, environmental and industrial design, and cognitive science, are
also invited. Presentations that focus on theoretical issues and the
foundations of research approaches are encouraged, as well as practical
issues and famous failures.

To propose a presentation, submit a brief, one-page narrative description of
your presentation, preferred format (e.g., poster, panel, forum), and time
requirements. Include in the description a summary of objectives,
procedures/methods, findings, issues, and how the information is being used.
To facilitate the proposal review process, the proposal summary should
adequately convey its content using between 250 and 500 words. Include the
name (s), the institution (s) involved, and contact information, including
telephone numbers (s) and e-mail address (es).

To expedite planning, all contacts for the Visitor Studies Conference program
will be done by e-mail. If you do not have e-mail, please partner with
someone who does. Presenters will be notified of presentation status in
March of 2000.

Submit proposals to Chris Parsons, Program Chair, at <[log in to unmask]>
before January 31, 2000. If you have questions, call Chris at (831) 373-2044.
