I am sending this to the list because I think there may be enough general
interest to warrant it.
While private funds are keeping the exhibit open, neither the National
Gallery nor Ticketmaster are issuing any more ADVANCE tickets to the
Vermeer exhibit. The only way to get new tickets is to go to the National
Gallery on the day you want to see the show and line up to get same day
tickets. The Vermeer exhibit will be open weekdays and Saturday, 10 am to
7 pm and Sunday 11 am to 7 pm. Between 4600 and 5800 same-day passes will
be made available each day at the will-call desk in the East Sculpture
Hall of the West Building of the National Gallery of Art. The exhibit -
and ticket desk - can only be reached through the entrance at Sixth Street
and Constitution Avenue, NW. A gallery spokeswoman has said that anyone
in line by 10:30 am should be able to get in but there are no guarantees.
People can call the NGA and get a recorded message stating the above info.
by calling (202) 842-6690.
As for the Winslow Homer show in the East Building of the National Gallery
of Art ... sadly it will remain closed for the duration of the federal
shutdown. It is scheduled to run through Jan. 28th.
