Hold on to it!

I recently saw a TV program (on The Learning Channel, I think) on fakes and
forgeries that claimed nearly all major museums, art galleries and auction
houses have been fooled by forgeries.  I also recall seeing an outreach
exhibit by the Glenbow Museum at the Calgary Airport on fakes and forgeries
from their collection.  It was fascinating!

Make the appropriate notations on the object's accession/catalogue records,
then maybe try to find out more about the piece's history, and about the
original as well.  Then, if your exhibit space permits, display it as a
forgery.  I think you have a great opportunity to exhibit a prevalent, yet
often overlooked part of the art world.
