Hello All:

We are about to upgrade our collections database from Accession 2.5 to
PastPerfect 4. In order to have our existing files converted to
PastPerfect by the people at Pastime Software, we have to create an ASCII
file from our existing data and send it to them.

Here is the conundrum: Accession is on an old Mac (Power Macintosh
7600/132) so we have to convert the file into ASCII, and hope that the
ASCII will fit onto a floppy (because that's the only drive the Mac has)
or somehow compress the ASCII so that it will fit on the floppy. Once the
file is on a floppy, it will need to be emailed from a PC to the
conversion specialist so that they can do the conversion.

Has anyone had any experience with a conversion from Accession to PC, and
has paid for the conversion of existing data to the new database?
Specifically, can anyone walk me through creating an ASCII file on a Mac?
The person I spoke with at Pastime Software was unfamiliar with Accession
and therefore can't help. I would appreciate any insight or advice.
Please feel free to email me off list.

Thanks,
Amanda Thompson Dyer
