The Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology, Brown University, seeks a Curator 
of Programs and Education to plan, implement, and teach programs supporting 
the museum's mission for Brown University students and faculty, the general 
public, teachers, and K-12 schools.

The successful applicant will plan and implement public programs, including 
lectures, symposia, gallery talks, and performances; develop strategies to 
increase the awareness and use of the Museum and its collections by Brown 
students and faculty; oversee and expand the Museum's 35-year old on-site 
experiential education and outreach program; recruit, train, and supervise 
education department staff, museum guards, and docents; write grants to 
support programs; and develop interpretive strategies for the Museum's 
exhibitions.  The Curator will serve on exhibit committees, participate in 
teaching museum-based courses, and undertake research contributing to 
exhibition and publication of museum collections.

Qualifications:  M.A. or Ph.D. in Anthropology or Museum Studies preferred, 
or equivalent in education and museum experience. The successful candidate 
will have demonstrated skills in teaching, public programming, 
administration, organization, communication, grant writing, budgeting, 
supervision, and planning in museum settings.

The Museum's galleries are located on the Brown University campus and in 
Bristol, R.I., 18 miles from Providence.  Its collections (100,000+) are 
global in scope, with marked strengths in the Americas, Africa, and S.E.
