Palo Alto Art Center Children's Art Programs
Program assistant position available:

The Program assistant will assist with Project Look! and the Children's
Art Class Program 20 hours per week at $14.00 per hour. The ideal
candidate must be good at time management, be able to take direction
well and work independently, be able to communicate well with city
staff, volunteers, teachers, parents and children, and have computer and
art teaching skills. A background in art or art education and a second
language is desirable. This is a position with potential for
professional growth.

Duties include:

*       Assisting with administrative tasks:

                Maintaining and managing art rooms and supply areas
                Finding substitute teachers
                Coordinating with staff, parents, teachers, schools and volunteers
                Proofreading, copying, phone, email, correspondence,
major mailings
                Class and tour scheduling and calendars
                Producing publicity
                Ordering and maintaining art supplies

*       Working as an Art Educator

                Assisting with Project Look! Tours
                Assisting with Family Days and other special events
                Helping to prepare educational materials
                Helping in art classes and workshops
                Facilitating art classes, workshops and special events

*       Working independently on new programs and initiatives

                Assisting with scholarship programs
                Outreach to schools, including East Palo Alto schools
and bilingual schools
                Working towards enhanced programs in a planned new
Children's Art Wing
