The Rensselaer County Historical Society in Troy, NY has been addressing 20th
century collecting during the last few years. Contact Curator, Stacy Draper,
for details regarding the "ephemera box", a device for collecting contemporary
archival material; their 3-year collection management initiative (funded in part
by the NYS Council on the Arts); the museum's newly adopted vision statement;
and their most recent "Re-Vision" exhibitions, which explore new approaches to
interpreting local history.  The address is:  59 Second St., Troy, NY  12180;
email: [log in to unmask]; telephone: 518-272-7232. You can also view RCHS on the
web at: http://www.crisny.org/not-for-profit/rchs

By the way, RCHS used Christopher Clarke-Hazlett of The Strong Museum, Nancy
Bryk of the Henry Ford Museum, curatorial consultant Nichol Forsht, folklorist
Mary Zwolinski (Troy) and anthropologist Tamar Gordon from RPI (Troy) on a
consulting team during the Collection Management Initiative.
