I was referring to the listing of countries that had assumed
responsibility for reporting about their national resources to
the VLmp, not the actual listings of individual museums.

Nonetheless, the Swedish Museum of Natural History was among
the earlier starters on the Web -- spring 1994, if memory
serves. Since this was about the time that the present wave of
Web/Internet mass popularity got started, we had lots of
company. It may be difficult identifying the gold star museum.
I'll check our records and post the exact date, if it can be
determined. (At the time we grudgingly perceived the setting up
of a Web site as a task that we sooner or later would have to
undertake. We attached no historical significance to the date of
the release of our first pages.)
