Exhibition Curator
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum seeks an experienced exhibitions
curator to lead the development, research, and management of a permanent
exhibition "Recreation on the Bay," which explores the transformation of
the Chesapeake from a maritime and agricultural workplace to a place
increasingly shaped by recreation and tourism. This is a full-time grant
funded position starting in early 1999 and scheduled to last three
years. Duties will include historical and curatorial research;
maintenance of a research database and files; leading exhibition team
from conception to installation; and writing of exhibition script, as
well as funding proposals. Required: MA or equivalent in history,
folklore, American Studies with a speciality in the history of American
recreation, leisure, tourism; a track record of developing and managing
innovative, participatory exhibitions that incorporate excellent
