Hello Valerie
Couldn't get your email to work so here's the message:
It seems to me what you need is some training material because the
collection policy will state something along the lines of "items must be
handled according to professional standards."

Gallery Association of New York had a video about 10 years ago. It's light
hearted and short (20 - 30 minutes) but gets the idea across. Also, I
"stole" the manual that Denver Art Museum developed to train their
volunteers regarding collections handling when they did a major move. I'd
guess that both of these are still available.

The information on this material is at work and I am - thankfully - on
vacation!

You may call me Thursday or Friday of this week at 307 362 3138 if you want
a copy of the manual and the name of the video.
