FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
PROGRAM ASSISTANT

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

Join a dynamic, creative team operating one of America's premiere science
and technology museums.  Participate in The Tech Museum of Innovation's
major expansion into a new facility scheduled for opening in 1998, in the
heart of Silicon Valley.  The Tech is seeking a professional to serve as
the Program Assistant.

The Program Assistant reports to the Director of Education and Programs and
supports the operation of the Education Department, Public Programs, and
Visitor Experiences.  This full-time, exempt position provides exposure to
all aspects of the general development and implementation of museum
exhibits, services, and public and education programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Support the day to day operations of the Education Department.  These
operations include: coordination of evaluation process, photocopying and
distribution of materials, correspondence, database management, composition
and distribution of department notices, newsletter articles and materials,
and filing.
* Support Public Programs by disseminating information and responding to
inquiries about special programs (such as Tech Challenge and Summer Camp).
* Assist Visitor Experiences, on an as needed basis, in providing services
for school groups, and youth volunteer programs.
* Assist in monitoring timelines and project dates for Education, Public
Programs, Volunteer Services, special visitor events.
* Support and participate in the Programs and Exhibits Committee.
* Edit and manage the technical aspects of the Education Department's
publications and materials.
* Assist in the preparation, conduct, and follow-up related to committee
activities, teacher development programs, meetings, and special events as
specified.
* Facilitate internal and external requests for information and services
related to educational programs.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Work as Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned weekend
days and holiday.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Minimum of two years of related experience; a college degree is preferred;
* Proficient expertise with Windows and Macintosh computer software
including wordprocessing, database, spreadsheet and desktop publishing
* Ability to work as a team member or independently on day to day tasks,
special assignments, and projects
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects; excellent communication
skills
* Ability to work well with the public of all ages; interest in
professional growth in the museum field; and a sense of humor.
* Willingness to work on assigned weekend days and/or holidays.
