Patrick:  Thank you for reporting this--it is good to know that the U.S.
government accepts responsibility for the destruction.  Unfortunately, it is
a little like locking the barn door after the horse is gone.

If the Bush administration people had been thinking just a little bit about
rebuilding Iraq after Saddam was deposed, they would have recognized the
value of Iraq's cultural heritage as being a tie that could bind the nation
together again.

I wept right along with the museum's staff as they surveyed the destruction.
