Position:       Grants Officer
Reports to:     Associate Director of Development for Corporate, Foundation
& Gov't Grants
Overview
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Development for
Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants, the Grants Officer is
responsible for the identification of regional and national corporate,
foundation, and government funding prospects and for the preparation,
presentation, and administration of grants and other funding proposals.
Requirements
Possession of a bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years' related
experience at a cultural institution; exceptional written and oral
communication skills; excellent organizational and administrative skills;
and strong knowledge of the Los Angeles funding community.  Ability to
represent the museum at meetings with prospective donors and at fundraising
events.
Essential Functions
*       Develop grant proposals in support of all areas of museum activity,
including exhibition and education programs, conservation, general
operations, etc.  Administer grant contracts and awards, including the
preparation of interim and final reports, financial reports, grant
reimbursement requests, and other required documentation.
*       Identify foundation, corporate, and government funding prospects and
work with appropriate staff in the development of funding proposals.
*       Draft solicitation and inquiry letters to prospects.
*       Oversee the Grants Coordinator in general grants office
administration duties, which will include tracking pending requests,
managing institutional records on Raisers' Edge and hard files, developing
and circulating credit lines, and posting proposal and report deadlines.
*       Track the ongoing status of grant requests for corporate and
foundation donor history profiles and share this information with other
staff as appropriate.
*       Oversee and/or assist in the administration of special projects to
further museum objectives as required.
*       Perform other related duties as required.
