Gillian Anderson at the Library of Congress has spent years restoring
original scores for a number of classic silent films. I'm sure she'd be
interested in hearing about what you have in your collection as complete
scores are very rare. Also, the organist at the Kennedy Center's
American Film Institute is far from being the last living silent film
organist--this art has not yet died out and there are a number of
younger organists who have learned this difficult skill from older
masters. And it is quite a skill--these artists play for hours without
pause, all the while keeping the music in sync with the images, not to
mention the emotions, depicted on the screen and in many cases without a
score, the organist at the AFI often has to improvise.
