AAM Announces an Improved MAP Self Study Process

AAM would like to inform you of an improved Museum Assessment Program (MAP)
self study process which:
     *is more comprehensive
*uses a questionnaire that is easier to understand and complete
*involves a broader range of staff, board and community members, and
     *is more interactive

What Assessments are available?
Institutional Assessment - provides an overview of the management and
operations of the entire museum.
Collections Management Assessment- reviews the entire operations of the
museum and how they affect the collections; primarily focuses on collections
planning, policy and procedure
Public Dimension Assessment-reviews the entire operations of the museum and
how they serve the museum's audience; looks at the organization from the
outside in while focusing on the public's perception of, experience with,
and involvement with the museum

MAP has evaluated over 3500 small and large museums of all types since 1981.
Currently more than $90,000 is available from IMLS to assist qualified
museums in the MAP process.

The application deadline is March 15th. For more information visit
<www.aam-us.org/map.htm> or contact MAP staff at 202-289-9118;
