Re: Ethics

Perhaps the question has already been answered, but here is another
response.   A peon in the museum hierarchy, I have little direct experience
with boards so my response comes from th eliterature, not personal
experience.

  As we all know, Burcaw's Introduction to Museum Work is one of the best
books in the field and contains a brief chapter on museums and the law.  In
it, the author explains the proper ethical behavior for non profit boards
using specific court cases to do so.  One of the most important ppoints is
that board members of any given institution simply cannot, in any way,
profit personally from their positions as board members.
