Apply for it anyway. Mention that your 'maturity' is an advantage
that lets you self-start, manage time well, etc. it worked for me as
an advantage for several internships and a TA four years ago. But I
admit there is a propensity to want to hire under 35s because they
have a long career ahead of them (and maybe can be got cheaper).
