Jails, you want jails. Small town museums often find these a
comfortable home.  An example is the Manito Historical Society,
near Peoria, Illinois.  They have a jail *and* and school house.
 
Their newsletter, *The Jailhouse Key* includes the Warden's
Report.  I'm surprised no one has mentioned Alcatraz.  As for
programs, Conner Prairie recreates the ride of the headless
horseman.
