Are you already working in a museum? If not, you might begin by exploring
the AAM bookstore <http://www.aam-us.org/newbookstore> for appropriate
advice on career development. An internship is a good idea; paying ones are
not common and are not easy to obtain. Many aspiring museum professionals
feel as you do, that an internship is professionally valuable, so you'll be
leaping into a large pool of trained people all competing for a very small
pool of jobs.

A search of this list may prove useful as would a search of the AVISO
internship listings (also on the AAM site) to learn what employers seek in
interns. There are lots of other job sites (again search this list) and
some list internships, as well.

Good luck
Diane
