Rich, I wish I could put you in touch with my high
school tv-workshop teacher. We had a little device,
ordered through a regular tv-production/home
production company. We would just pinpoint the color
we wanted to chromakey and we were set. We did quite
a bit of it. A bit annoying when colors wouldn't
match right, but overall a neat effect. You could
probably do it through a computer program by now.
There are quite a few tv-production retailers online.
Dont pay over a thousand for the setup. Probably
significantly less.

Let me know if it works or you have other questions.
Aaron
