Have you considered the importance of the bicycle in:
Making it possible for artists to take their easels, canvas and newly
invented paint tubes out into the countryside to paint en plein air?  (esp.
the Impressionists & Post Impressionists)
Generating a vociferous group of people who wanted and fought for better
roads
Freeing-up women into more comfortable clothes, and giving them the ability
to provide their own, unescorted transport?
