A New Year's Wish- will you help is spread the word about MISTNET
MIgration Information School Tracking NETwork, a new list server
linking birders and school throughout the Americas?
Natural History museums, nature centers, and zoological parks
are the logical way for the public to make use of this list server.
Could you put up a sign about MISTNET near the appropriate exhibit?
We invite everyone to join in tracking neotropical migrant song birds
-Barn Swallow, Northern Oriole, Boblink, Yellow Warbler, the spot-
breasted Thrushes, Ruby-throated or Violet-chinned Hummingbirds--
north with the Spring.

Suppose you cannot make a computer available to the public;then
what? Could you bring area school students to your computer for at
least a visit or two? The visitors could bring messages about MISTNET
birds to upload. Then you might share printouts of return messages and
reports in March, April, and May, the height of the migrating season
in the North.
To join us on line, create an e-mail message addressed to

We want to hear which of these six bird species spend part of
their lives with you. Be sure to include the date and your address in
your report. Once you have signed on to the list server and have read
some of the messages, you will see just how to do it.

Song birds have always been seen as symbols of peace. Now they
can become symbols of global interconnectedness.

Please help us by forwarding this message to people whom
you think might sign on to MISTNET.

Thank you. Marnie Reed Crowell, [log in to unmask]
