I'm planning an exhibition that tells the story of Alfred Lunt and Lynn
Fontanne's life "on the road", and am looking for institutions that might
have collections that document their experience.

The Lunts were the most revered acting couple on the American stage during
the first half of the 20th century. They were beloved among the general
public largely because they took their Broadway shows on the road,
performing in local theatres, on high school stages, and in auditoriums
across the United States. They also traveled to Great Britain during WWII
and throughout Europe in the post-war era.

I would love to hear from those of you who know of collections that contain
evidence of the Lunts appearances - perhaps in the form of handbills,
theatre programs, photographs, posters, etc. You can reach me off-list at

Thanks!
