Job Title: Youth Programs Coordinator/Science Instructor (Full Time)
Department: Education Division
Reports To: Director of Education

Summary:
Develop, coordinate and execute the Museum’s programs for the youth
(preK-middle school) audience.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct gallery, classroom, and outreach lessons at elementary, secondary,
college, and adult levels in one or more of the following topic areas:
anthropology, archaeology, paleontology, and/or geology.

Develop, coordinate, teach, and evaluate all youth programs provided by the
Museum.

Develop, coordinate, teach, and evaluate Circle Sampler Camp, the Museum’s
summer camp program.

Coordinate and implement Education Division special events such as the
Museum Camp-in and Discovery Day.

Prepare annual Youth Programs Budget and monthly and annual reports.

Coordinate the publication of various program-related brochures, website
content, and other marketing materials with the Museum’s Marketing and
Communications Division staff.

Provide curatorial assistance with the Education Division’s teaching
collections.

Communicate and work with an audience that is diverse in culture, age, race,
and abilities in a pleasant, tactful, and enthusiastic manner.

Cooperate with other Divisions in exhibit planning, label writing, and
assisting with Museum-wide activities.

Maintain professional conduct at all times with Museum staff and the public.

Keep abreast of scientific knowledge and museum research activities in areas
of teaching duties. 

Education and/or Experience:
Master’s Degree in one of the following natural-history related fields:
anthropology, archaeology, geology, or paleontology.  Three to five years
experience in museum or other informal educational programs.
