COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT

The Jewish Museum of Maryland, an accredited museum of history and
culture, seeks a full-time Collections Assistant to perform reference
services, process archival collections from the Maryland Jewish
community, assist in cataloguing of collections, including data entry
into the Museum's Past Perfect database, and digitize the collection.
Assistant has primary responsibility for the JMM photography collection
of 100,000 images and serves as the Museum's IT coordinator.

Requirements:  Degree in History, Jewish Studies, Museum Studies,
Archival Science or related field, with knowledge of collections
management, archival principles and practices, and digital media.  BA
required, MA preferred.  Strong writing, verbal, and computer skills.
Ability to multi-task, work with Museum/Library databases, and handle
complicated projects.  Knowledge of American Jewish history and Hebrew
or Yiddish desirable.

Salary:  Salary in the mid-20s with 10 days of vacation plus paid
holidays, medical and dental benefits, and 401(k).

Position available as of July 1, 2005.
