The Media and Technology committee of AAM is looking for ideas, topics and
resource people for the 1995 Annual Meeting - Philadelphia, May 21-25. The
theme is "Museums:Educating for the Future" which seems to be an appropriate
invitation for a strong voice from those of us working with technology and
media. The call for proposals lists four key areas of emphasis for the
program: program development, Internal Operations and Practices, Social
Relevancy, and Technology. I have included the text from the paragraph on
technology and also some topics suggested at the 1994 meeting. If you have
any ideas or suggestions or would like to prepare a proposal, please contact
me at any of the numbers listed at the end of this message. Thanks for your
ideas!

Topics:
- Outreach and technology/media - evaluation media/technology
- small museums and technology - Integrating tech. with exhibit design
- electronic networking - new technologies and their potential
- effective ways to use tech/media - digital revolution and impact
- designing for s pecial audiences (children, older adults, etc.)
- using tech. to manage tours, etc. -technology and objects
- Advancing the goals of Excellence and Equity
Also, we would like to see a session about the technology and media programs
in the Philadelphia area so that conference participants can get a preview of
whats in the area.

>From AAM propram proposal about technology:
"How can museums ensure that they will have access to and contribute toward
the "information superhighways" now being constructed at break-neck speed?
How are museums exploring and benefiting from potential technological
applications? How are museums using technology to enhance formal educational
instruction? What are the implications of technology access and control on
museum resources? How can museums remain flexible during a time of rapidly
changing technological advancement?
