Japanese American National Museum

OVERVIEW
The Japanese American National Museum is the first museum in the United
States dedicated to sharing the experiences of Americans of Japanese
ancestry. The National Museum website (www.janm.org) provides visitor
interaction, public relations information, and a gateway to Japanese
American research resources. The National Museum currently seeks a
Webmaster to develop, implement, and maintain the National Museum's World
Wide Web site (http://www.janm.org). Initial responsibilities will involve
a redesign of the current site; integration of existing digital resources;
and the creation of web-based companion interactives to National Museum
exhibitions. The Webmaster will work closely with staff of the Hirasaki
National Resource Center and the Public Relations/Marketing department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Maintain and publish the National Museum's website
-Train and supervise a team of volunteers to assist with website maintenance
-Implement HTML and web interfaces to multimedia and database resources
-Install and configure off-the-shelf e-commerce solutions
-Assist with data conversion and encoding projects
-Support the use of digital media in the exhibitions and Hirasaki National
Resource Center

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Expert knowledge of HTML and web interfaces.
Working knowledge of all of the following: MS Access/IDBC, Windows NT,
image scanning and processing; working knowledge of at least two of the
following: FileMakerPro, ColdFusion, Sybase SQL, and Javascript. Ability
to organize workflow for self and volunteers, work independently, and
maintain a deadline-driven production schedule. Effective interpersonal
skills for training, for supporting volunteer efforts, and for
collaborating with the staff.
